I’m finally starting my blog. I’ve wanted to do this for a while, but I’ve been suffering from a long bout of inertia. It is indeed hard to get out of that cycle. Hopefully, this will be the start of more good things. My plan is to post the meals that we eat as a family – which is about 5 home cooked meals per week – not including “leftover delight”.
This week, we have had some pretty yummy meals. Here is my menu plan for the week:
Monday – Petrale Sole Meuniere, Rice, Steamed Blue Lake Beans
Tuesday – Roast Chicken with Bread Salad (Zuni Cafe), Roasted Leeks, Carrots and Potatoes
Wednesday – Braised Short Ribs (David Lieberman), Fried Rice, Cabbage Slaw. Strawberries and Chinese Almond Cookies (Sunset Magazine) for dessert.
Thursday – tonight – planning to have Rigatoni with Tomatoes, White Beans and Sage, and a salad.
We had a guest last night (Wednesday) and that is why we had the more hearty meal, though Tuesday’s dinner was quite a production (an accident of recipe selection).
But, wait, that isn’t 5 meals and this is the first post….but I have a family with two young kids coming over for dinner on Saturday. Here is the plan:
Noodles with Szechuan Peanut Sauce (some plain ones on the side for kids)
Rainbow Cookies (Gourmet Magazine)
There will be some prep before the dinner. I’ll probably make the cookies tonight or Friday.
